Domaine Jean Grivot has established itself as one of the best producers of Vosne-Romanee. The Domaine only makes wines from its vineyards, 18 different appellations, spanning generic Bourgogne to Grands Crus Clos de Vougeot, Richebourg, and Echezeaux. The average age of the vines is between 45 and 50 years, aging takes place in oak barrels, the wood of which comes from the Tronsai Forest, one of the most beautiful oak forests in Europe. Style: deep, aromatic Pinot Noir wines with bright red fruit characteristics.
Echezeaux - one of the largest Grand Cru vineyards in the region, boasts several top-level producers with plots on their land. The 2012 Echezeaux Grand Cru has a ripe, inviting, well-defined aroma of candied fruits, red berries, cherries, and orange peel - a flavor that you want to inhale all the time! On the palate, it is a bright Echezeaux, full-bodied, with a deep and juicy fruit core, satin tannins, and a very long finish. Very appetizing!
Mathilde and Hubert are at the helm of the company under the leadership of their father Etienne Grivot, and it seems to be one of the most successful transitions from one generation to the next in all of Burgundy. This generation has a domaine that has truly broken into the upper echelon of Vosne-Romanee, with wines that consistently delight both at various dinners and blind tastings. That Grivot produces some of the best wines in the region is undeniable. It is worth noting that in 2008, Domaine Jean Grivot began to evolve towards softer extraction and greater transparency. Thanks to the dense planting of old vines (the average age of the vines is 45-50 years) with organic farming, grape yields are low, producing a complex red Burgundy worthy of a place in any cellar. Domaine Jean Grivot adheres to biodynamic practices, working in harmony with the environment. The wines are bottled unfiltered according to the lunar movements. Their grand cru vineyards include Richebourg, Clos de Vougeot, and Échezeaux.
