A gastrotour to Piedmont. Truffle hunt, the best Barolo and Barbaresco wines.
A gastrotour to Piedmont. Truffle hunt, the best Barolo and Barbaresco wines.

Once you visit Piedmont, like the French Burgundy, you want to come back again and again. Here the winemakers have passed on their skills from generation to generation, Italy has some of the tastiest cuisine and the most beautiful nature. In addition, October is the best time to visit the region: truffle hunting, harvesting, and the pleasant cool of spring. Piedmont is fantastically diverse in terms of wines, from the simple and cheerful Asti to the complex and aged Barolo and Barbaresco.

Barolo and Barbaresco are the two main villages of Piedmont. The most elegant and long-lived wines of Italy are produced here. Riserva wines do not reach the shelves until five years after the harvest. The grapes from the southern slopes are of such high quality that a minimum of 5 years is required before the wine is ready to drink. What does it depend on? Why does 1 hectare of land with southern exposure cost over 2,000 million euros today and nobody wants the northern side of the same hill? Why do some wines "die" after a year, but Barolo and Barbaresco can be drunk even after 50 years? We will find out and experience all of this in practice :) We've prepared for you a tasting of 7 vintages from the 60s and 70s, which we are going to taste in the vineyards of Alba village.

Let's cook dinner together :)

A cooking class awaits us at L'Eremo della Gasprina restaurant in the heart of the wine-making commune of La Morra. The restaurant is well known to locals for its excellent Piedmontese cuisine and the hospitality of the owners. We cook together under the direction of the Italian chef on the terrace of L'Eremo della Gasprina restaurant.

Truffle hunt with Bianco Tartuffi

"In truffle we trust" is the slogan of the guys at Bianco Taftuffi. They know all about truffles, how to harvest them, and how to sell them. They talk with pleasure and passion about the history and all the special features of this delicacy. And the hard-working dogs help us experience all the fun of truffle hunting!

Shopping, shopping, and more shopping for white truffles in Alba

The Tartufo Bianco d'Alba is held regularly in October. All the truffle traders and truffle-infused food producers gather at one place. Everyone talks, tastes, smells, and tastes truffles again. An exceptional truffle-tasting experience "right out of the ground".
