The Bowmore 1984 Samaroli & Moon Import / Dreams is a limited and highly sought-after collector's whisky. It is an old and rare vintage, distilled in 1984 and matured for 15 years, resulting in a 15-year-old Bowmore Islay single malt. This unique release features an artistic label by Nadia Pini and Hans Più, part of the renowned Dreams bottling series by Pepi Mongiardino and Silvano Samaroli. The whisky was aged in a carefully selected sherry cask and bottled in 1999 at 45.0% ABV without the addition of coloring agents or chill-filtration. Only 798 individually numbered bottles were produced.

The River Laggan flows across many miles of Islay, carving its path through iron-rich rocks, peat bogs, moss, and grassy mounds, until it reaches Bowmore, the island's capital on the western coast. The Bowmore distillery, founded in 1779 by John Simpson, is the oldest on Islay and produces around two million litres of whisky annually, adhering to time-honored production methods that have changed little over two centuries. In 1837, the distillery was acquired by William and James Mutter, and later, in 1892, it was sold to the Bowmore Distillery Company Ltd. After changing ownership twice in the late 1920s, Stanley P. Morrison purchased Bowmore in 1963 for £117,000. The distillery has a long-standing relationship with Japanese pioneers Suntory, who bought a stake in the company in the late 1980s and fully acquired it in 1994. Bowmore occupies a unique middle ground in flavor profile—while not as light as the Northern Islay distillery Bunnahabhain, it is also not as heavily peated or smoky as its three southern neighbors near Port Ellen. Today, Bowmore produces a celebrated malt and is the second best-selling Islay whisky, following Laphroaig. Its range includes a variety of independent bottlings as well as a core lineup of house offerings, with rare releases like the 1993 Black Bowmore, a 1964 vintage that originally retailed for about £2,500.
