Avignonesi is a winery with an excellent pedigree from the Tuscany region. The vines are planted at an altitude of 270-330m above sea level, on alkaline soils with layers of clay, sand, and silt, of Pleistocene origin at Le Capezzine and Pliocene origin at I Poggetti. Avignonesi takes a biodynamic approach to all its vineyards.
Poggetto di Sopra is a silky and pure wine, with natural fruit intensity and acidity. The bouquet is fragrant and bright with dried cherry, cassis, smoke, tar, and burning ember. This bottle is part of the Alliance Vinum, or the small group of estates dedicated to safeguarding Vino Nobile and the culture surrounding this historic wine appellation. Each producer in the alliance makes a single-vineyard expression of Sangiovese, and this is the contribution from the forward-thinking Avignonesi estate.
