Charles Ballot makes serious wines, old-fashioned in the best sense of the word, that deserve to be better known. The 2020 Meursault 1er Cru 'Genevrieres' has hints of pear, green apple, freshly baked bread, almonds, and mint in its aroma. Full-bodied and layered, with bright acidity and little reduction. This is a textural wine that holds a special place in the Lambier Wines portfolio.
Domaine Ballot-Millot is a highly established wine producer based in Meursault. The domaine is known for producing exceptional wines, mainly from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes harvested from vineyards in Meursault and surrounding communes. With a rich history dating back to the French Revolution, Charles Ballot represents the 15th generation of winemakers in his family, having taken over the domaine from his father in 2000. During his reign, Charles took a more ecological approach, moving away from chemical weed control to plowing the soil and adopting improved and reduced vine cultivation techniques. The Domaine Ballot-Millot vineyards boast old vines: the Meursault-Perrières vines are over 40 years old, the Meursault-Genevrières are 70 years old and the Meursault Narvaux vines are up to 60 years old.
