The 2022 is the first vintage for Château Figeac in the Premier Cru Classe A category (the highest quality category). With this wine, it is clear that Château Figeac deserves it.
The 2022 Chateau Figeac is one of the most vibrant wines of the Right Bank. The aroma has hints of blackcurrant, cassis, rose petals, violets, cigars, and soil tones. Full-bodied, supple, and smooth, moving into a layered core of bright fruit. This complex wine reflects the essence of great terroir and confirms the prestigious Premier Grand Cru Classé "A" status.
If you visit Chateau Figeac, you can easily see the water supply system that dates back to the time of the ancient Romans. There are also remnants of building foundations, medieval ruins, and even defense walls along with the remains of the original Renaissance chateau. The Renaissance style is readily apparent in the famous door and tower. Chateau Figeac changed hands many times in the 19th century as the estate was divided into plots and sold off, which explains the emergence of several farms bearing the name Figeac. Some of the lands that used to belong to Chateau Figeac now belong to another famous Chateau - Chateau Cheval Blanc. Today Chateau Figeac occupies about 40 hectares of land and is the largest winery in St Emilion. The vineyards are located on a gravel plateau in the western part of the commune, differing from other Saint-Emilion vineyards in having more stony soils and a higher proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, which affects the style of the wines, making them more intense.
