The Tour Saint-Christophe 2022 has very well-defined aromas of dark berries, black fruits, and licorice. On the palate, there is a concentration, an intent to perform at the highest level that shows through in the glass. The flavour is silky smooth, with a fine line of acidity, and layers of red cherry and blueberry, leading to a detailed long finish. The 2022 Chateau Tour Saint Christophe has a promising future.

Chateau Tour Saint Christophe, like many other Bordeaux châteaux, takes its name from the location of the vineyard, which is located in the commune of Saint Christophe des Bardes and was awarded Grand Cru Classe status in 2022. Its immediate neighbors are Château Troplong Mondot and Château Barde-Haut. The 20-hectare Chateau Tour Saint Christophe vineyard in Saint-Emilion has a terroir of clay and limestone soils, planted with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The old vineyard plots have a planting density of 6,500 vines per hectare, while in the new plots, this density increases to 7,500 vines per hectare, with 8,000 vines per hectare for Cabernet Franc. A great deal of work is required to produce the Tour Saint Christophe, as the wine is made using micro-vinification techniques. For the production of Grand Vin, the grapes are fermented with whole berries. On average, 50% of the wine is vinified using micro-vinification techniques, which means that half of the wine is vinified in 60% new French oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation takes place in the barrels. The wine is then aged in 60% new French oak barrels for an average of 18 months before being bottled. Tour Saint Christophe produces around 100,000 bottles a year. Michel Rolland advises on winemaking. A second wine, Les Terrasses de Tour Saint Christophe, undergoes the vinification process in concrete tanks. The average production of Tour Saint Christophe is around 4,000 cases of wine per year. Since 2018, the white wine Château Tour Saint Christophe Angela has also been produced. It is named after the owner's wife and is made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc. It undergoes aging with a mix of clay amphorae and new French oak barrels. Currently, only about 500 bottles are produced each year. Chateau Tour Saint Christophe is considered one of the best value-for-money wines in the Bordeaux region according to the team at Lambier Wines. Top vintages include 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014 and 2012.

Yohan Castaing:"Exhibiting notions of dark berries, blackberries and licorice, the 2022 Tour Saint Christophe is medium to full-bodied and has an enveloping texture with a fleshy core of fruit and powdery tannins leading to a long, rather concentrated finish. This blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc from vines planted on clay-limestone soil is a real success".

Iodine, crushed stone, salt, oyster shell, ink pot. Fascinating. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with a firm framing of fruit, with fine tannins and electric acidity. Exceptional. pH of 3.48 with just under 15% alcohol. Still thinking about this.

Another great wine from this château, the 2022 Château Tour Saint Christophe checks in as 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc brought up in 25% new French oak. It has a great nose of red plums, cassis, chalky minerality, and spice, and this full-bodied Saint-Emilion is impeccably balanced, with a pure, graceful mouthfeel, fine tannins, and outstanding length. The purity of fruit here is truly terrific.
