Vosne-Romanée Bossières 2016 Jean Grivot is an exceptional red wine that showcases the true essence of the Vosne-Romanée appellation in the renowned Burgundy region of France. Crafted by the esteemed winemaker Jean Grivot, this wine reflects the expertise, dedication, and passion that goes into producing a top-quality Burgundy. On the nose, it reveals an aromatic bouquet of ripe black fruits such as blackcurrant, black plum, intertwined with elegant floral notes of violet, rose and cocoa. Delicate hints of spices like cinnamon and clove add layers of complexity and allure. This wine's palate is a testament to the finesse and precision of Jean Grivot's winemaking skills.

Mathilde and Hubert are at the helm of the company under the leadership of their father Etienne Grivot, and it seems to be one of the most successful transitions from one generation to the next in all of Burgundy. This generation has a domaine that has truly broken into the upper echelon of Vosne-Romanee, with wines that consistently delight both at various dinners and blind tastings. That Grivot produces some of the best wines in the region is undeniable. It is worth noting that in 2008, Domaine Jean Grivot began to evolve towards softer extraction and greater transparency. Thanks to the dense planting of old vines (the average age of the vines is 45-50 years) with organic farming, grape yields are low, producing a complex red Burgundy worthy of a place in any cellar. Domaine Jean Grivot adheres to biodynamic practices, working in harmony with the environment. The wines are bottled unfiltered according to the lunar movements. Their grand cru vineyards include Richebourg, Clos de Vougeot, and Échezeaux.

Neal Martin:"The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Bossières, from vines located behind the Grivot maison that can create "village-plus" quality according to Etienne Grivot, offers blackcurrant and black plum scents on the nose, just a hint of cocoa in the background, doubtlessly from the oak. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, black fruit interwoven with graphite, a fresh line of acidity, linear and compact at present but exhibiting satisfying length and persistence on the aftertaste. I expect this to land at the top of my banded score once bottled".
