Originating from two vieilles vignes vineyards in the heart of Avize and the latest of special Champagnes, this distinguished cuvee should be tasted on "alone together" occasions. The bottles are taken down into the coolness of the cellars and stacked on lattes, the second fermentation takes place and the maturation continues slowly for at least 5 more years. Each bottle is disgorged by hand 6 months before being marketed. Les Chemins d'Avize continues to show brilliantly, unfurling in the glass with aromas of citrus oil, freshly baked bread, white flowers, fresh mint, pastry cream and blanched almonds. Full-bodied, layered and vinous, it's chiseled and concentrated, with racy acids, chalky structure and a long, saline finish. This is a terrific bottle that exemplifies the Larmandier-Bernier style.
Larmandier-Bernier is one of the finest estates in the Côte des Blancs. The Larmandier family farms organically, harvesting late and vinifying their wines in oak barrels. The result is full-bodied, terroir-driven Champagnes.
