Family-run and based in Vergisson, Domaine Carrette quietly cultivates some of the most expressive terroirs of the Mâconnais. The estate spans about 14 hectares, primarily in the southern part of Burgundy, with holdings in Mâcon-Solutré, Mâcon-Vergisson, Saint-Véran, and Pouilly-Fuissé. Known as one of the top producers in the region, Domaine Carrette focuses entirely on white wines made from Chardonnay.
The domaine vinifies each plot separately to highlight the individual character of the soils. The approach in both vineyard and cellar is guided by a preference for purity, energy and balance—avoiding excessive oak, over-extraction or unnecessary interventions. Parcels are hand-harvested, fermentation is careful and unforced, and élevage is tailored to each cuvée.
Top wines include Pouilly-Fuissé “Les Mures”, Pouilly-Fuissé “Le Crays”, and Saint-Véran “Les Chataigniers”. These wines show clarity and depth without artifice—Chardonnay with a precise Burgundian accent.
The estate also keeps a wine archive going back to 1976—an extreme rarity in Pouilly-Fuissé. This allows them to track the evolution of their wines over time and demonstrate their ability to age gracefully.
Average production is just 60,000 bottles per year. Domaine Carrette isn’t chasing trends—it’s a small, grounded estate working patiently with the land, producing some of the clearest expressions of southern Burgundy today.
