Grown in steep, west-facing, fully hand-tilled limestone vineyards in Kirchhofen and Pfaffenweiler, the 2022 Spätburgunder Bellen is distinguished by deep, intense aromas with spicy, fresh, and floral nuances complementing its palette of dark cherry, black fruit, and floral notes. On the palate, this wine is fresh and vibrant, generous yet dense and concentrated. With an intense and silky texture, it showcases great finesse and purity. The tannins are natural, fine, and fresh, beautifully integrated, contributing to a persistent, fruit-forward finish with grip and tension. This is, without a doubt, one of the finest German Pinot Noirs we’ve encountered.

The 2022 Spätburgunder Bellen is from a high-elevation plot in Kirchhofen on loam and loess soils. Fermented with about 50% whole clusters, this is a pure, refined and elegant, slightly toasty-flavored palate that reveals warm yet perfectly ripe fruit intermingled with fine but nervy limestone tannins and pure, refreshing salinity. This is pure and pithy, persistently saline and grippy Pinot with an intense and long finish and remarkably fine and refreshing tannins for old vines. The wine fermented until September 2023. Tasted at the domaine in February 2024.
