Marc Hébrart, who began his journey in viticulture at just 17, has transformed his family’s Mareuil-sur-Aÿ domaine into a benchmark estate. Known for his thoughtful approach, he employs minimal synthetic treatments, focusing on organic practices and low yields to ensure quality and flexibility in winemaking. With an emphasis on building reserves for future vintages, Hébrart crafts wines that balance vibrant fruit with refreshing acidity, offering immediate appeal as well as impressive aging potential.
Champagne Marc Hébrart Premier Cru Extra Brut Rosé is a blend of 55% Chardonnay and 38.5% Pinot Noir, with 6.5% Pinot Noir vinified as red. Harvested from the premier cru vineyards of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, it combines a bright, berry-driven character with vibrant freshness. Fine mousse and a lively structure highlight flavors of redcurrant, rosehip, and subtle hibiscus, making this a terroir and versatile rosé Champagne.
Since 1997, Jean-Paul Hébrart has managed the 15-hectare estate, planted with 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. The domaine tends to 75 parcels spread across five grand cru villages, including eight hectares in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, alongside plots in Aÿ, Avize, Oiry, and Chouilly, as well as several premier crus. Hébrart emphasizes organic farming whenever possible, keeping synthetic treatments to a minimum. Each parcel is vinified individually, with malolactic fermentation avoided in all but two wines: Coteaux Champenois and Rive Gauche – Rive Droite. The latter is a champagne inspired by Burgundy, crafted from Chardonnay grown in Chouilly and Avize, and Pinot Noir from Aÿ. Renowned for its consistent quality, the estate shines with wines like Brut Sélection, known for its outstanding value. Out of the 140,000 bottles produced annually, 80% are exported, with 28% destined for the U.S. market.
