Emmanuel Brochet Selected Extra Brut 2020 is a small release where Brochet steps beyond his single vineyard, Le Mont Benoit, and works as a négociant, sourcing organic fruit from trusted growers in neighboring villages, particularly Pierry; the wine is built on Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay; fermentation and ageing take place entirely in oak with natural yeasts for around 11 months, adding structure and texture without losing precision; it is an Extra Brut with a dosage of around 2–3 g/L, keeping the wine focused and defined; citrus, apple, pear, almond, light toast, with a saline edge; fine mousse with a long, direct finish; this is a limited cuvée produced only in suitable years, offering a different angle on Brochet’s style — not through a single terroir, but through fruit selection, while maintaining his approach to precision and handling of the material.

Villers-Aux-Noeuds is one of the least visible Premier Cru villages in Champagne, with just around 25 hectares of vineyards, increasingly absorbed by the expanding outskirts of Reims, and it is here that Emmanuel Brochet works — the grower who effectively puts this location on the map; Brochet began working part of his family holdings in 1997 and released his first wine in 2002, building a highly focused project around a single parcel, Le Mont Benoit, covering about 2.5 hectares on a gentle southeast-facing slope, with soils of Cretaceous chalk beneath a thin layer of clay-limestone topsoil; the vineyard is planted with all three main Champagne varieties, with some vines dating back to 1962, while roughly half of the parcel was replanted in 1986 following severe frost, shaping the current vine structure; this is a small-scale, single-site project within the appellation, where scale and total focus on one terroir define the approach and style.
