Domaine Rossignol-Trapet Beaune 1er Cru "les Teurons" 2015

Vendor code : 621

The Domaine Rossignol-Trapet range offers a great insight into the terroir of Gevrey-Chambertin, with three very contrasting Grand Cru: Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin, and Chapelle-Chambertin. The winemaking style from Domaine Rossignol-Trapet can be described as delicate wines, with light extraction, never deep in color but creating subtle textures. Biodynamics acts as the cornerstone.

The 2015 Beaune 1er Cru les Teurons has an enticing aroma of undergrowth, with red cherry and crushed strawberry. The flavor is well-balanced, with fine lines that lack a little of the tension found in the best Rossignol-Trapet wines. According to the Lambier Wines team despite not being one of the best vintages for this wine, Beaune 1er Cru les Teurons will be able to surprise Burgundy fans! The Lambier Wines team was surprised!

Brothers Nicolas and David Rossignol produce some of the most sought-after wines in Gevrey-Chambertin. Domaine Rossignol-Trapet switched to biodynamics back in the 90's, it was a conscious choice. Over the years, the vines have gained strength, they can withstand the hot weather and the vintages are excellent. On average, the vines are 60 years old and grow on limestone-clay soil. All work in the vineyard is done by hand, a prime example being in 2018 when the brothers resisted the spread of mold by hand fighting it using horsetail tea. Rossignol-Trapet wines are not massive and muscular - they are wines of purity, complexity, and finesse that evolve to show their Gevrey-Chambertin terroir with finesse. And while they may take a little time, the best Burgundy wines are worth the wait. The team at Lambier Wines is convinced that Rossignol-Trapet is a name that deserves more attention.

Wine Advocate
Neal Martin:"From the upper side of the vineyard in a warmer microclimate, the 2015 Beaune 1er Cru les Teurons has a more cohesive bouquet compared to the Les Mariages: attractive raspberry and wild strawberry scents, hints of sous-bois developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin and good acidity. It needs more substance on the finish, although that should evolve by the end of its maturation period. Not bad, although not the best Beaune 1er Cru that I tasted in 2015".
