Domaine de l'Enclos

Domaine de l'Enclos is a very welcome addition to the Chablis palate.

‘To be a winemaker means to love, to doubt, to question, to take risks, to make decisions, to respect nature, time, people, to work hard and to share’ - Romain and Damien Bouchard.

2016 is the debut vintage for this promising new domaine run by brothers Romain and Damien Bouchard.

Domaine de l'Enclos was founded following the sale of the Domaine Pascal Bouchard owned by their father. The 29-hectare domaine has been completely converted to organic techniques.

The wines are fermented using the microflora of the environment and aged on lees in stainless steel and used wood. Buyers sensitive to fine facets may wish to decant.

France is the main market (35% of turnover) for Domaine de l'Enclos with a large restaurant clientele. The wines are on the menus of some fifteen-star restaurants and several well-known wine shops.

On the export market (65%), Domaine de l'Enclos is present in about fifteen countries, the most important of which are the USA, UK, Germany, Norway, Netherlands, and Japan.

We would particularly highlight the following vineyards:

Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos - 0.67 hectares (planted in 1964)

Complex, with pronounced mineral flavors and great longevity. A great wine to forget about in the cellar.

Chablis Grand Cru Blanchot - 0.22 hectares (planted in 1982)

Fine and elegant, long, with floral notes. Keep for several years.

Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir - 0.57 ha (planted in 1992)

Greedy, complex, and long, with notes of ripe fruit. Keep for several years.

Chablis Premier Cru Montmains - 0.55 hectares (planted 1971)

Solid, with a wild profile of ripe fruit, and mineral, with subtle notes of iodine and smoke. A wine worth keeping.

Chablis Premier Cru Vau de Vey - 2.77 hectares (planted in 1971)

Excellent maturity, balanced by a fine and delicate profile and the typical freshness of this vineyard.
