Marc Soyard is one of the most talented and hardworking young winemakers in Burgundy.
Marc Soyard worked at Domaine Bizot in Vosne-Romanée before the municipality of Dijon chose him to manage Domaine de la Cras, an estate in the hills outside the city with plots that were largely abandoned after phylloxera, but used to be active winemaking land.
Determined to preserve this huge tract of farmland and prevent it from being overtaken by the sprawling Dijon, the city government put out a call for young agronomists, including winemakers, to take up the challenge. Marc applied, he was selected, and he created the magnificent wine we have tasted and now present to you.
Marc gained experience under the guidance of super-talented winemakers such as Pierre Gaillard, François Villard, Yves Cuilleron, and Jean-Yves Bizot.
Marc's time at Domaine Bizot has had the greatest influence on his style and his wines show the purity associated only with the best organic viticulture and the new wave of traditional winemaking.
His approach to winemaking is very ‘natural’, with minimal use of sulfur. Domaine de la Cras white wines are defined more by the philosophy that inspires them than by the place or grape variety from which they are made.
Marc Soyard's red wines are characterized by moderate alcohol content, captivating aromatics, melting tannins, and, importantly in our experience, beautiful purity of fruit.
The potential of the Dijon hills is evident and we recommend the more adventurous buyer to try these wines.
