Christoph Wolber and Alexander Götze are two talented winemakers with a remarkable ability to capture the essence of the terroir. Their first harvest in 2016 marked the beginning of Wasenhaus, a series of wines that consistently prioritize quality over quantity. The vineyards span approximately 2.5 hectares.
Harvested from vines over 60 years old on stony limestone soils, the 2022 Weissburgunder Landwein Möhlin is characterized by maturity, intensity, and precision of flavor—clean and stony, with a refreshing hint of lemon. This wine is opulent yet precise and refined, offering a light but distinctive and well-concentrated Pinot Blanc with an elegant texture and an intense finish. While still young, it’s a fascinating Pinot Blanc in a dry, clean, and refreshing style.
The Wasenhaus Mohlin Weissburgunder 2022 is an exemplary expression of natural winemaking from Baden, Germany. This wine comes from Wasenhaus, a highly respected winery run by Christoph Wolber and Alexander Götze, who are dedicated to creating authentic wines that reflect the terroir. The 2022 Mohlin Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) is crafted from grapes grown on volcanic soils, which impart a pronounced minerality to the wine. The winemakers produce Spätburgunder, Chardonnay, Gutedel (Chasselas), and Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) from biodynamically farmed plots, with minimal intervention. These wines are characterized by low sulfur content, and pigeage is minimally used during fermentation.
