Based in the Grand Cru village of Chouilly, Champagne Vazart-Coquart is a family-run domaine with roots dating back to the late 19th century. Led by Jean-Pierre Vazart, the estate spans 11 hectares of vineyards, producing terroir-driven wines with a focus on sustainability.
Champagne Vazart-Coquart Cuvée Camille Brut Grand Cru is a heartfelt homage to Jean-Pierre Vazart's great-grandparents, both named Camille. Crafted with a blend of 50% Chardonnay from the Grand Cru vineyards of Chouilly and 50% Pinot Noir from Premier Cru parcels like Les Grandes Terres, it embodies a harmonious balance between elegance and depth. The wine gains added complexity from its incorporation of reserve wines, approximately 20% of the blend, sourced from a solera system established in 1982. After a minimum of two years of aging in the cellar, it reveals layers of aroma and flavor that are both inviting and distinctive. The nose opens with biscuit, candied lemon, and peach, enriched by almond paste and apple. Secondary aromas include blueberry, linden, blackcurrant, and a fresh touch of peppermint. On the palate, the Champagne is supple, fresh, and marked by creamy effervescence. Its flavors of ripe white and red fruits are perfectly balanced with a mineral edge and a citrusy lift. An exceptional expression of the Chouilly terroir and the dedication of Vazart-Coquart.
Nestled in the Grand Cru village of Chouilly, the northernmost commune of the Côte des Blancs, Champagne Vazart-Coquart has emerged as a standout among aficionados. This independent domaine, helmed by Jean-Pierre Vazart, operates across 11 hectares of prized Chardonnay vineyards and produces approximately 80,000 bottles annually. The roots of the estate trace back to Camille Vazart in the late 19th century, with Jean-Pierre taking the reins from his father Jacques in 2005 after nearly two decades of preparation. Chouilly’s terroir, with its famed Montaigu vineyard and rich soil diversity, is at the heart of Vazart-Coquart’s wines. Viticulture here embraces sustainable practices, achieving the highest level of HVE (Haute Valeur Environmentale) certification in 2012, reflecting a commitment to minimal chemical intervention and environmental stewardship. In the cellar, vinification in small stainless steel tanks ensures each vineyard parcel’s unique character is preserved, highlighting the mineral and floral elegance synonymous with Chouilly. A perpetual solera, initiated in 1982, enhances complexity and consistency across the cuvées, while only the first press juice is used to maintain quality. The domaine’s membership in the prestigious ‘Club Trésors du Champagne’ since 1996 underscores its dedication to producing exceptional wines, with the Special Club cuvées standing as a testament to their craft. From its rich history to its terroir-driven approach, Champagne Vazart-Coquart captures the essence of Chouilly in every bottle.
