Champagne Gallimard

Champagne Gallimard Père et Fils is a family-owned domaine in the village of Les Riceys, nestled in the Côte des Bar — the southernmost part of the Champagne region, closer to Chablis than to Reims. This area is known for its distinctive Kimmeridgian soils and its strong identity shaped by Pinot Noir. For six generations, the Gallimard family has cultivated this terroir with dedication and independence.

The estate farms around 12 hectares of vineyards, with a strong focus on Pinot Noir, which thrives in the warmer microclimate and clay-limestone soils of the Aube. While Chardonnay plays a supporting role, it’s Pinot Noir that defines the house style — generous, structured, and full of fruit. Gallimard has become a reference point in the Côte des Bar for those who want Champagne with personality and depth.

Winemaking at Gallimard balances tradition with modern precision. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel to preserve freshness, but some cuvées also see time in oak barrels to enhance texture and complexity. The wines are aged sur lie for extended periods and dosage is applied thoughtfully, often at brut or extra brut levels, to preserve balance.

Gallimard offers a broad range of Champagnes, from the expressive Brut Tradition to the refined Cuvée Prestige and the rich, barrel-aged Cuvée Grand Blanc (100% Chardonnay). The domaine also produces a well-regarded Rosé — an expressive, food-friendly Champagne made by saignée method from Pinot Noir.

In a region once considered peripheral, Gallimard is part of the new generation of Côte des Bar producers redefining quality and identity. For those seeking characterful, fruit-forward Champagnes with real roots, this domaine is a name to know.
