We offer a rare opportunity to discover Champagne Eric Rodez Les Beurys Pinot Noir Ambonnay Grand Cru 2017. This is a collector’s edition from eighth-generation winemaker Eric Rodez, who practices biodynamic and organic farming in his vineyards.
Champagne Eric Rodez Les Beurys Pinot Noir Ambonnay Grand Cru 2017 is a vintage Blanc de Noirs from one of the finest parcels in Ambonnay, reflecting the chalk-driven character of the site. The wine is crafted by Eric Rodez, former cellarmaster at Krug. The average vine age is around 42 years. Fermentation takes place predominantly in small oak barrels (95–100%), shaping the wine’s texture and depth. It is aged on the lees in bottle for about 5 years before disgorgement. The style is defined by a vinous structure combined with pronounced mineral freshness, typical of Ambonnay Grand Cru.
Eric Rodez’s champagnes feel crafted in the best sense of the word: they display a vinous intensity that clearly comes from precise work in the vineyards, combined with a level of complexity and refinement that reflects confident cellar decisions… Anyone who thinks that monocru champagne lacks depth, or that grower champagne is rustic, needs only to taste Rodez’s wines. — Peter Liem. Rodez farms 6 hectares in Ambonnay and interprets its terroir through elegance rather than power. This approach is evident in the non-vintage Cuvée des Crayères, the chalk-driven Blanc de Noirs, and a rare Blanc de Blancs from Ambonnay, shaped with clarity and structure. His blending reaches its peak in Cuvée des Grands Vintages, combining multiple vintages, some over a decade old. Since 2010, Rodez has also focused on single-vineyard Champagnes: Les Beurys and Les Genettes, both 100% Pinot Noir, vinified in barrel without malolactic fermentation. Les Beurys highlights precision and finesse from older vines, while Les Genettes shows greater depth and concentration, shaped by deeper soils.
