Domaine Fourrier wines come exclusively from old vines — a philosophy, not a slogan. Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is released as a separate cuvée to distinguish it from standard village bottlings: about 3 hectares of vines planted between 1928 and 1955. Aged 24 months in barrel (18–20 on lees) with no more than 20% new oak. The profile is focused and intense: ripe cherry, berries, licorice. The structure is firm, tannins confident, and the overall level sits closer to premier cru than to a typical village wine.
When the estate passed to Jean-Marie Fourrier in 1994, the outlook was close to disastrous: after devastating reviews from Robert Parker, sales had stalled. Although he had dreamed of becoming a pilot, he chose to stay and focus on the domaine’s greatest asset — old Gevrey-Chambertin parcels planted with ancient Pinot Noir clones. Time spent learning alongside Henri Jayer and Véronique Drouhin shaped his commitment to minimal intervention. Within two decades, Domaine Fourrier moved from crisis to becoming one of the region’s most sought-after names. The production of Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2022 is built on precision and fruit integrity: hand harvesting, strict berry sorting, then a 3–4-day cold soak. Fermentation starts naturally and runs for about three weeks in stainless-steel vats under controlled temperatures with gentle extraction. Malolactic conversion takes place in barrel. No sulfur is added before bottling, and neither fining nor filtration is used.

Fourrier's 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes offers up aromas of sweet, jammy cherries, berries and licorice, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and succulent palate with an ample core of pure, sun-kissed fruit.
