Domaine Rossignol-Trapet Latricieres Chambertin Grand Cru 2020

Vendor code : 612

The Domaine Rossignol-Trapet range offers a great insight into the terroir of Gevrey-Chambertin, with three very contrasting Grand Cru: Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin, and Chapelle-Chambertin. The winemaking style from Domaine Rossignol-Trapet can be described as delicate wines, with light extraction, never deep in color but creating subtle textures. Biodynamics acts as the cornerstone.

The 2020 Latricieres Chambertin Grand Cru has a straightforward aroma, perhaps a little conservative, with austere red berries, minerals, and rose petals. Don't be distracted, because after five to ten minutes it gradually opens up and emphasizes the floral aspect. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with fine-grained tannins, a supple and focused wine, well balanced, with light spice and an elegant finish.

Brothers Nicolas and David Rossignol produce some of the most sought-after wines in Gevrey-Chambertin. Domaine Rossignol-Trapet switched to biodynamics back in the 90's, it was a conscious choice. Over the years, the vines have gained strength, they can withstand the hot weather and the vintages are excellent. On average, the vines are 60 years old and grow on limestone-clay soil. All work in the vineyard is done by hand, a prime example being in 2018 when the brothers resisted the spread of mold by hand fighting it using horsetail tea. Rossignol-Trapet wines are not massive and muscular - they are wines of purity, complexity, and finesse that evolve to show their Gevrey-Chambertin terroir with finesse. And while they may take a little time, the best Burgundy wines are worth the wait. The team at Lambier Wines is convinced that Rossignol-Trapet is a name that deserves more attention.
