Corton-Charlemagne is one of the Côte de Beaune’s most renowned Grand Crus, long seen as a benchmark for Chardonnay. Domaine Bruno Clair farms a small plot here with a focus on low yields and precise vineyard work. Their Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2022 is a classic expression of this historic terroir, reflecting the estate’s commitment to quality.
Domaine Bruno Clair Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2022 comes from Chardonnay planted in 1976 on clay-limestone soils at 325 m altitude with a south-west exposure. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats for 2–3 weeks, followed by 18 months ageing in oak barrels, around 20% new. This Corton-Charlemagne reveals a yellow gold robe and a beautiful aromatic expression with aromas of pear, sweet citrus fruits, freshly baked bread and white flowers. On the palate, it shows wonderful roundness and exceptional length, highlighting the grandeur of this Grand Cru terroir.
Corton-Charlemagne is one of Burgundy’s most esteemed Grand Cru vineyards, situated on the upper slopes of the hill of Corton in the Côte de Beaune. Its limestone-rich soils and sunny exposures have long made it a reference point for exceptional Chardonnay. The vineyard owes its name to Emperor Charlemagne, who according to legend encouraged the planting of white grapes here. Domaine Bruno Clair carefully tends a small plot in this historic site. Their Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2022 reflects the domaine’s philosophy of low yields and attentive work in both vineyard and cellar. It stands as a fine expression of a terroir that continues to set the standard for Grand Cru white Burgundy.
