Domaine Bruno Clair now covers 27 ha across eight villages, with Prime plots in Grand Crus like Chambertin‑Clos‑de‑Bèze and Corton‑Charlemagne. Since 2021 a new cuverie has improved precision in sorting and gentle vinification. Under Edouard and Arthur, Domaine Bruno Clair strengthens organic farming (cover crops, fewer chemicals) and boosts whole‑cluster fermentations. These wines can be found in the world’s best establishments.
Domaine Bruno Clair Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Jarrons 2022 is crafted from Pinot Noir grown on a 0.53-hectare parcel planted in 1983 and 1987. Set at 250m altitude on clay-limestone soils with an east/north-east orientation, this Premier Cru benefits from 20–30% whole bunch fermentation and 10–15 days maceration in wooden vats. The wine matures 18–20 months in oak, with around 30% new barrels. It shows a vivid ruby red colour and a nose of red fruits. On the palate, it has good structure with silky tannins, elegantly capturing the character of Les Jarrons.
Today, Domaine Bruno Clair cultivates vines across 28 appellations in 7 villages throughout both the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Curious about the scope of their holdings? It includes such prestigious sites as Bonnes Mares, Clos de Bèze, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint Jacques and Petite Chapelle, Morey-Saint-Denis « En la rue de Vergy », and Corton-Charlemagne, among many others. Notably, nine of their cuvées come directly from Marsannay, where the domaine is based. Despite the excellent terroirs found here, Marsannay remains underappreciated, and its wines often underestimated or opened before reaching their peak. The estate’s diverse portfolio spans whites, reds, and a rosé, encompassing every level of appellation — ensuring there’s something to suit every palate. Domaine Bruno Clair minimizes the use of chemicals, preferring compost for fertilization. Most vineyard plots are ploughed, except those higher up the slopes where soil erosion is a risk. All grapes are hand-picked, followed by a careful sorting to ensure quality. For reds, grapes are partially destemmed before going into vats. If needed, the must is cooled, then a slow fermentation begins with native yeasts. Aging takes place in oak barrels, with new wood ranging from 20% to 50% depending on the cuvée. The wines mature on fine lees for 16 to 22 months, adjusted to the vintage. About Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Jarrons 2022: This wine beautifully showcases the character of Savigny’s premier crus.
