Domaine Bruno Clair Marsannay Rouge 2022 comes from 1.4021 hectares of Pinot Noir planted on clay-limestone soils with a south-east orientation. The wine undergoes fermentation with 10–20% whole bunches and 10–15 days maceration in wooden vats, then matures for 18–20 months in oak barrels, about 20% new. This Marsannay Rouge epitomises elegance, revealing aromas of red fruits and light spice. On the palate, its freshness and finesse deliver a truly pleasant experience, finishing long and harmonious. A wine to enjoy equally at a friendly meal or a quiet evening for two.

Bruno Clair established his own estate in 1979, but like many Burgundy domaines, its story is deeply rooted in family history that stretches back to the early 19th century. Bruno represents the sixth generation of winegrowers. His grandfather, Joseph Clair, gradually built up vineyard holdings between 1930 and 1960 in Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Gevrey-Chambertin. Together with his wife, three children, and sister-in-law, Joseph founded Domaine Clair-Daü. In the 1950s and 60s, his son and daughter-in-law added plots in Marsannay, Savigny-lès-Beaune, Vosne-Romanée, and Gevrey-Chambertin. After Joseph passed away in 1975, Bernard Clair took the reins. Family disagreements eventually led to the estate’s division. Bruno inherited the share of Bernard and Geneviève, and along with his siblings, created a new domaine. At the start, it spanned 17 hectares spread across various appellations. From 1986 to 2005, the family steadily expanded by seizing new opportunities. In 2005, Bruno’s wife Isabelle joined, managing the business side and client relations. Their eldest son Edouard came on board in 2010 to oversee the vineyards and winemaking, followed by Arthur and Margaux in 2018 — Arthur managing the cellar and vinification with Edouard, while Margaux handles logistics and works among the vines. Today, the estate encompasses 27 hectares across 8 villages, producing wines from 32 appellations. One of the standouts in this extensive portfolio is their Marsannay Rouge 2022. This wine beautifully illustrates the potential of Marsannay — often less celebrated than its neighbors — delivering lively red berry flavors, subtle earthy nuances, and a vibrant, elegant palate that speaks to both the terroir and the domaine’s thoughtful approach.
