Sourced from a premier cru parcel situated just below the village of Morey-Saint-Denis, this Pinot Noir grows on limestone-clay soils that underline the site’s precise mineral character. Vines average over 80 years in age, reflecting the estate’s focus on old vines to achieve natural concentration and complexity. This wine is built for extended aging, evolving gracefully over time. Vinification employs minimal new oak—15 to 20 percent—preserving fruit integrity and emphasizing terroir expression. The wine presents a structured profile marked by dark plum, black cherry, mint, licorice, oyster shell, pressed white flowers, graphite, and Earl Grey tea aromas. Fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity contribute to a poised texture and a sustained finish.
Domaine Fourrier, established in Gevrey-Chambertin and led by fourth-generation winemaker Jean-Marie Fourrier, follows a non-interventionist approach, prioritizing vineyard health and maturity, and limiting the inclusion of younger vines under 30 years to maintain quality. The domaine’s production is primarily destined for export markets.

The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos Sorbet 1er Cru has a floral bouquet boasting exquisite definition: mainly dark berry fruit, oyster shells and pressed white flowers. The terroir is articulated wonderfully here. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth entry and gentle grip. A Morey of real finesse with hints of graphite and Earl Grey towards the tender finish. This is very classy.
