Domaine Bruno Clair is a family‑owned Burgundy estate founded in 1979 by Bruno Clair, rooted in the historic Domaine Clair‑Daü. Bruno Clair spans roughly 27 ha across eight villages and 32 appellations, including Grand Crus like Chambertin‑Clos‑de‑Bèze and Bonnes‑Mares. This is one of Burgundy's most recognisable producers.
Domaine Bruno Clair Vosne-Romanée Les Champs Perdrix 2022 comes from a 0.8475-hectare parcel planted in 1948, set on clay-limestone soils over Comblanchien limestone subsoil at 320m altitude. The east/south-east orientation enhances ripeness and finesse. Crafted from Pinot Noir with 20–30% whole bunch fermentation and 10–15 days maceration in wooden vats, it matures 18–20 months in oak (around 30% new). This Vosne-Romanée stands out for its nose of red fruits, raw cocoa and spices. On the palate, it’s full-bodied, racy and saline, offering a precise expression of Les Champs Perdrix.
Domaine Bruno Clair is a respected Burgundy estate with vineyards spread throughout the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. While Pinot Noir is at the heart of its production, the domaine also grows Chardonnay and Aligoté, crafting wines that range from basic Bourgogne to prestigious premier and grand cru labels. Its top vineyards include renowned grand cru plots in Bonnes-Mares, Corton-Charlemagne and Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze. Founded by Bruno Clair in 1979, the domaine initially comprised parcels in Marsannay, Fixin, Savigny-les-Beaune and Morey-Saint-Denis. Bruno is the grandson of Bernard Clair, who founded the esteemed Domaine Clair-Daü in 1919. Following Bernard’s death in the late 1970s, disputes over the estate led Bruno in the 1980s to expand by taking on additional family plots in notable villages like Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny. Further acquisitions in the 1990s increased the domaine’s holdings to 23 hectares. All grapes are picked by hand, with organic methods employed in the vineyards, though they are not formally certified. Chemical fertilizers are generally avoided, but kept as an option if ever required. Today, Domaine Bruno Clair produces a broad selection of wines, reflecting a diverse range of styles.
